TRAY ACTIVITY: USEFUL TOOLS

A mobile application to help you dock

The AFT has developed a simple, free indicator for all road haulage drivers, because proper securing helps to ensure the safety of the driver, other road users, the haulage firm and the goods.

Called "AFT Sanglage", this mobile application developed in partnership with the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté DREAL is now available on iPhone, Android and Windows Phone. Every year, there are tens of thousands of accidents and incidents on France's roads and motorways caused by goods not being properly secured. With this in mind, in 2015 the AFT and the Franche-Comté DREAL joined forces to develop a simple tool for self-checking lashing.
Without taking the place of the essential calculations acquired during the compulsory training courses for lorry drivers, the "AFT Sanglage" application calculates the number of straps needed to secure a load, using only the lashing technique known as "force lashing" (by friction).
It's easy to use for drivers who want to check that they've used the right number of straps for their load, or who want to check that goods have been secured if they haven't done so themselves. All they have to do is enter 7 items of information: weight, height, length and width of load, ratchet tension (STF), materials in contact, apron support, semi-trailer.

Anti-slip mat to prevent loads from slipping

The aim of lashing is to secure the load so that these forces do not influence it. Mazet Mercier is equipping itself with anti-slip mats, to be placed under the load, which prevent it from slipping and thus hold it in place using less tension force. They will soon be tested on the Plateau activity.
